The muffle is an essential component in heat treatment furnaces, used in processes such as carburizing, tempering, brazing, annealing, hardening, sintering and bright annealing, as well as similar treatments. During these processes, the muffle is subject to a multitude of stresses, of a thermal nature (due to the temperature), mechanical (due to expansions and the support of loads) and chemical (due to the composition of the atmospheres).
Muffle furnaces can come in a square or cylindrical shape. Among the most common are those with a parallelepiped chamber, although there are also ovens with vaulted and arched roofs. Furthermore, there are tilting, opening and rotary tube ovens.
In round furnaces, the retort, the main element of the furnace, is installed, which contains the atmosphere and promotes the movement of the pieces, usually towards the tempering process. Similar to pass-through furnace muffles, in some chamber furnaces it is necessary to maintain an active atmosphere within a metal muffle. The intense thermal stresses in the rapid heating and cooling zone require special solutions and the use of alloys resistant to these difficult conditions.
Carpenterie Generali confirms itself as a first-rate partner thanks to vast and varied experience in the design and production of these devices. Furthermore, in the absence of a construction project, we can use reverse engineering to gather the dimensions and information necessary to create a new muffle.
